These cigarette packs were a kind of test really that came about after working with the photographer on some simple single packshots. The original pack shots were just slightly off square and showing one side. Simple on the face of it but they actually required some tricky lighting for the emboss as wells a fair amount of retouching on each one to realign all the edges and clean up the ribbed texture on the front. It occurred to me that we had the ability to create a flat image from our slightly skewed packshots and then wrap those onto some simple box shapes in 3D which then gave us the opportunity to explore some more complex compositions without having to redo all the retouching which was considerable.
